'There is no constitutional limit upon the number of terms that any one individual can serve as President in Egypt.' The current President is Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak and he has been serving as the country's fourth president of the Arab Republic of Egypt for 30 years!
Recently residents of Egypt have been cut off from communication with the outside world. With this tension tension is a brew as citizens want the 82- year old President to step down. According to some sources:
'His reign has been tainted by charges of police brutality, large scale poverty, government corruption and fights among Christians and Muslims, has handed over power to his son.
The people of Egypt want a drastic change in the well-being of their country, but likely won't get that if Mubrak hands power to his son as rumored to happen, and power stays in the same family's hands. The more true it becomes his son, Gamal, may take over, the more the unrest rages.'
Egyptians are also pushing for a fully democratic nation.
Sources added that Egypt has shut down all means of communication with the outside world by shutting down Internet services.
'The government first shut down Twitter and Face book so the citizens had no way to relay what was really happening in their country--and to stifle the real stories from getting out.'
With a similar political situation like this in The Bahamas it is my hope that we never get to to this point.
With the same two governments serving the Bahamas for many years, do you think this same problem is inevitable in our country? Why are the same parties being elected each time?
